HAPPY 2026
A new year is upon us and the same God who created everything is still our source of peace and hope. This last year I have found myself trying to encourage our church at ECCC to hear, see, and feel the awesomeness in having a personal relationship with God. The ability to walk with peace, security, and confidence comes only from knowing that He is always with us.
Time does nothing more than go on and on and on. How, when, and why can we find the ability to feel a rested peace? It’s interesting to note that Adam and Eve were created to walk in the garden with peace and joy communing with God. After the eating of the apple, Genesis 3:8 says, “And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden”. Joy, peace of mind, and the ability to be content was the reason God created humanity to commune with Him. That communing with God at that moment was severed (forever).
The deception of satisfying self through other means had now entered (by choice) the realm of humanity (it’s always free). In Genesis 11:4, we see the same thing taking place in building the Tower of Babel. “Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.” Humanities endless search and desire to find satisfaction in themselves is an unattainable expectation, if not impossible (for over a 10 day period).
As you can see, peace, joy, wellbeing, and contentment is and can only be through God. The freedom given us through the new covenant from God, is what gives us the stability and foundation to live in the midst of the endless challenges and havoc in living life.
The peace and joy that Adam and Eve were created to have and had, we can have. Jesus Christ paid the price for us to walk with confidence with God. In our trust through faith, each of us can walk with the peace, security, and joy that God created us to live with.
